Hack: Agnes shirt with band collar

Agnes from Swedish Mönsterfabriken is a classic shirt pattern with a modern twist. It has no darts, is a little on the cropped side and slightly A-shaped. It is wide and boxy and has the option of adding a box pleat to the back. It has a classic double yoke. The pocket placement can define whether the shirt looks more modern or more classic. The pattern comes with two options – pointed or rounded collar.

This is my third shirt from this pattern. I decided to leave the off the collar and only use the band. Sometimes I prefer the more casual look of a band collar, particularly under a blazer. To me, there is plenty of width in this shirt without the box pleas, so I usually leave it off. I left off the pocket, too. I made no other modifications to this shirt. I’m between sizes, but the smaller size works very well for me in most of Mönsterfabriken’s patterns.

The fabric is linen from The Fabric Store, from their premium line. I’ve sewn with this fabric several times and can highly recommend it. It has the perfect weight for shirts and dresses, and the color range is incredible.
